- Deborah Mitchell, Ph.D.
Dr. Mitchell began her training in DBT in 2000.
In 2002, she began co-facilitating skills groups
in private practice and has been passionately learning
and working within the DBT model since. In August
of 2006, Deborah co-founded the San Francisco DBT
Center where she provides individual psychotherapy
and co-facilitates several DBT skills groups. In
addition, she has extensive training in psychological
assessment and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Deborah
completed Behavioral Tech’s Intensive DBT
training in 2006 and the Advanced Intensive DBT
training (taught by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D. and Shari
Manning, Ph.D.) in 2008.

- Mark Rosenthal, LCSW
Mark was introduced to DBT in the mid 1990’s
and began working with the skills in his clinical work
with the homeless population. From 2000 to 2006, Mark
worked at the Partial Hospitalization Program at University
of California, San Francisco's Langley Porter Psychiatric
Institute (LPPI). At LPPI, Mark did individual DBT
with patients and supported the skills developed in
the DBT skills group on the unit. Mark resigned from
LPPI in June of 2006 to co-found the San Francisco
DBT Center where he provides individual psychotherapy,
group psychotherapy, and co-facilitates several DBT
skills groups. He also provides DBT training to clinicians.
Mark completed Behavioral Tech’s Intensive DBT
training in 2006 and the Advanced Intensive DBT training
(taught by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D. and Shari Manning,
Ph.D.) in 2008.

- Francie Burkhard, MFT
Francie Burkhard received her masters and got her training in Chicago, IL. She worked as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in both community mental health and private practice in Chicago from 2000-2009. Since relocating to the Bay Area in 2009, Francie has earned her Marriage and Family Therapist license. Her training is in cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic therapy and she draws from both in order to fit the unique needs and circumstances of each client. She has experience working with adults and adolescents in individual, family and group settings. She has worked with a wide variety of populations and has successfully helped clients manage a vast range of problems from acute mental health issues to life transitions. Francie has additional expertise in working with women who are pregnant and post-partum and enjoys working on parenting techniques. She joined SF DBT in 2010 and has been receiving training in DBT from both Deborah Mitchell and Mark Rosenthal. In addition to co-leading DBT skills groups, Francie is integrating the DBT skills into her work with individuals.
Francie completed Part I of the Dialectical Behavior Therapy Intensive Training Course through Behavior Tech in January 2012. The course is scheduled to complete in June 2012.

- Amber Jenkins, Ph.D., MBA
Dr. Jenkins holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and a MBA. She has focused on using cognitive behavioral therapy in both community mental health and hospital settings. Dr. Jenkins has additional expertise in schema therapy, working with individuals with social anxiety or extreme shyness, and has developed trainings and public education courses on interpersonal communication and conflict resolution. She began co-facilitating DBT skills groups and integrating the DBT skills into her work with individuals in 2008. Dr. Jenkins joined the San Francisco DBT Center in 2011 where she provides individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, and co-facilitates DBT skills groups. In addition, Dr. Jenkins is the Membership Chair of Board of Directors of the San Francisco Psychological Association.
